The famous Mon Repos beach and turtle hatchery can be reached in a 5-minute drive, or you can take the Turtle Trail for a scenic walk or bike ride. Plus, there are tours and charters which leave from the nearby Port of Bundaberg Marina (approx. 10-minutes drive away).
Just down the Esplanade from Manta Bargara, the CBD waterfront area is made up of a well-designed streetscape consisting of walkways, decks, a playground, and picnic areas. Visitors and locals alike use this relaxed scenic area to enjoy take-away food, a picnic, or casual alfresco dining in the CBD cafes and restaurants.
Bargara has three main beaches:
Nielson Park (home of Bundaberg Surf Lifesaving Club) which is a few minutes walk from Manta Bargara
Kelly’s Beach which also has two still water swimming areas (approx. 10 minutes walk from Manta)
Bargara Beach which is smaller but provides a scenic backdrop to the CBD and is just 1-2 minutes walk from Manta
Bargara ‘village’ has a number of specialty retailers, medical offices, post office, NAB bank, and professional services. A short distance along Bargara Rd, the Bargara Central shopping centre has two supermarkets, specialty retailers, and medical facilities.
Bundaberg has a rich and vibrant history and is home to some of Queensland’s most iconic brands.
Being a major regional centre, it also has key services and facilities including larger shopping centres, professional services, medical facilities, transport, and entertainment.
By road Bundaberg is approximately 380km north of Brisbane
By air, flights from Brisbane to Bundaberg are approximately 40 minutes
QLD rail has a number of tilt-train and regular passenger services coming through Bundaberg each week. Travel time varies depending upon the service.
